We are frequently asked to design and build additions to existing buildings. Additions are a great way to add value and functionality to a home, business or barn. Our pre-cut Post & Beam additions help minimize the intrusion that construction can have on every day life.
Any structure may be suited to expansion by adding a wing, ell or shed as many additions are labeled. We have added shed additions to an Alpaca Barn, a large show room for tractors and equipment such as Chappell Tractor in Milford, NH, as well as many residential additions for families with changing needs such as a new Great Room or Family Room, Master Bedroom Suite, expanded Kitchen, in one case we modified a Great Room that we built years ago by adding framing at the second floor level and creating two bedrooms in the vaulted space for a growing family.
Timber Frame additions can be modifications such as this or new construction added to an existing contemporary timber frame or an old traditional frame built 200 years ago. Many times a homeowner comes to us asking if we can add a timber frame addition to their conventionally framed home. As they learn not only can this add significant value to their home, but since most of the rough framing and enclosure system is pre-cut in our shop our time on site is kept to a minimum, reducing the impact that the project has on their day to day life. We maintain a clean job site, removing debris, sweeping, and stowing tools and supplies daily for both safety and consideration of your living space.
You might want to consider doing much of the work yourself, by hiring a contractor to excavate and install a foundation, followed up by our crew to install a deck, frame and panels. Next you apply trim to the roof, hire a roofing contractor (or roof it yourself) and in a matter of even 4-6 weeks have a completely enclosed addition that you can take your time to side, trim, and finish at your own pace.
